Common questions

Why is everything free right now?

Coldpine is in early access and we’re focused on growing the product, not the paywall. Everything that was Pro (the AI read on each trade, real-time alerts, watchlists, backtesting) is included with a free account while that lasts. Paid plans will return after early access; early users will hear about it first, and nothing gets charged automatically. There is no card on file.

What makes Coldpine different from other congressional trackers?

Most trackers stop at the feed: they show you what Congress traded. Coldpine adds the intelligence layer on top. We score every trade for signal strength (disclosure speed, trade size, cluster activity, and the member’s track record), flag when several members pile into the same name, and measure each member’s actual return versus the S&P, so you see who trades well, not just who trades a lot. Most members don’t beat the market; we show you the ones who do. The raw data is a commodity. Knowing which of it matters is the product.

Is the data on Coldpine official?

Yes. We pull directly from the House Clerk and Senate eFD disclosure portals: the legally required filings members of Congress must make under the STOCK Act. Every transaction on the site is one click from the original government PDF.

Does Coldpine give financial advice?

No. Coldpine is a publisher of intelligence: we score and rank trades based on disclosure data, but we don’t recommend buying or selling anything. Every decision stays with you. We don’t connect to your broker.

How is the signal score computed?

A weighted score across four live factors: disclosure speed (how quickly the trade was reported), trade size (in the disclosed range), cluster activity (multiple members trading the same name), and member track record (their per-trade history). Two more factors, committee context and sector momentum, are in the framework but reserved for a later release. Scores range 0–1; signals ≥ 0.65 are the high-conviction reads. Trades from trust-managed family accounts are penalized so the leaderboard reflects member conviction, not wealth-manager rebalancing.
